During our G3 Conference in January, we will be hosting a Q&A panel with our conference speakers. Anyone who has attended a conference can testify that the Q&A sessions often provide great learning opportunities on deep theological issues as well as practical issues of the Christian life. As we near the halfway point in 2012 and are planning ahead for the 2013 G3 Conference – we want your input for questions to be asked during our Q&A session. If you have a specific question that you would like to hear our conference speakers address – please post it below in our comments section. We cannot promise that all questions posted will be asked, but we will use this as a source during our G3 Q&A, so go ahead and ask your question below.

The leaves are already turning color in the Atlanta area and January will be here in a snap! We are all getting very excited about the G3 Conference and what the Lord has in store for us during our time together. As we look at the calendar, we want everyone to know the registration schedule so that if you’re planning on registering or encouraging someone else to register, you should be aware of two important realities:

1. Fee Schedule

The early bird registration is long gone and the final day to register at the $139 rate is November 5th. Below is the schedule of when the rates will be raised, so it’s important for you (or your friends) to register now!

<del>Early Bird Registration = $120 (open until August 31st)</del>

OPEN: Registration = $139 (September 1st – November 5th)

Registration = $159 (November 6th – 30th)

Late Registration $220 (December)

Last Chance Registration $300 (January 1st – 23rd)

2. Limited Seating

We currently have less than 400 seats remaining. With registration picking up due to the increasing rates listed above, the seats will fill up soon. It’s essential to register now to secure your seat, because registration will close immediately when the final seat is sold.

To register now and secure your seat – click the red registration button on the top right of your screen to begin the process!

Spread the word now and we look forward to worshipping with you in January!

The G3 Team

Why the book - Whomever He Wills?

2. Founders ministries is an official partner of the G3 Conference and will be on campus as an exhibitor in January.

One of the goals of the G3 Conference is to magnify God through a proper view of God from His Word. As we all know, Facebook and the social media world is a great way to connect with friends and reconnect with old friends. If used properly, Facebook can also be a tool to reach people with the gospel, or at least open the door for that important conversation to take place in person. Likewise, Facebook can be a great place to spread solid doctrine to your believing friends. With that in mind, we have developed a set of Facebook covers that can be imported straight into your Facebook account as your top cover image. Simply save these images to your desktop and then upload your choice to your Facebook.

As the G3 quickly approaches, please spread the word to your friends and family so they can secure a seat before all seats are secured and registration closes.

We look forward to serving you when you arrive in January!

Today, we are happy to announce our “End of the Summer” special. For the first 300 registrants to use the special discount code – “GRACE” at registration or until August 31st – you can attend the G3 Conference for only $80! Considering the number of speakers who will be speaking in the conference and the subject that we are covering in the 2013 G3 Conference – $80 is an extremely great opportunity for seminary students and others who have possibly never attended a Christian conference before.

How this works:

1. Go to the G3 Conference registration page found here (http://www.g3conference.com/?page_id=418).

2. Select from your options to add to your shopping cart.

3. At the checkout time – enter your discount code “GRACE”

4. You will then be registered for the 2013 G3 Conference for only $80.

The only thing that will prevent you from receiving this discount will be if the limit of 300 registrants for this special offer is used prior to your registration or the deadline of August 31st passes. Until then – you have the opportunity to attend this power packed event for only $80.

Consider the following:

- Do you know a seminary student or Bible college student that you would like to sponsor for this event? If so, call them and let them know to make sure they can attend the conference and then register them for the event.

- Would you consider sending your pastor to this conference for $80? Contact him and see if he is free for the dates and if so – let him know that you are registering him for the event.

- This event is open for all of the church – men, women, pastors, deacons, staff persons, and even youth! We encourage you to spread the word about this event and this special offer to your friends, church members, and family.

May God bless! We look forward to seeing you in January!

God’s Sovereign Purpose in Global Missions
by: Jesse Carr

In Jesus’ journey to Gethsemane the Bible tells us that Jesus lifted up His eyes and prayed. It is in that prayer that we get a small glimpse into the inner workings of the eternal mind of God, His purpose for Christ, Christ’s desire to be glorified and to glorify God, and His plea for God to make Himself known to His people. The words of Christ’s prayer in John 17 show us God’s purpose in global mission. On one hand Christ is praying about the mission He had while on this earth yet He is also looking ahead to the mission that is to come. That tension produced these words in John 17:1-5:

Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

This prayer is a glimpse into the very throne of God and the inner workings of the Trinity itself. God delights in His Son at all times but particularly in the act of redemption. The reason is because the Son, who is the express image of the Father (Hebrews 1), reflects the glory of the Father back to the Father. God’s great goal has always been to glorify Himself. God must do what is best, and He does, by loving, pursuing, and valuing what is most valuable, namely His glory! (Isaiah 42:8, Isaiah 48:11) When a man drinks up his paycheck and doesn’t feed his children with his hard earned money he is unrighteous because he has valued something lesser, his drink, instead of something greater, his family. So too, if God valued anything other than His glory He would be putting that which is lesser ahead of that which is greater. God’s purpose in global missions, indeed all of history, has always been to glorify Himself. That’s why we see Jesus anxiously praying for His own glory for the greater purpose of glorifying the Father. The Trinity delights in itself. Each member, Father, Son, and Spirit, are thrilled with, and eternally committed to, the purpose of lifting up the names of the other’s. That’s why the Son seeks to glorify the Father. That’s why the voice of the Father thunders down over Jordan with the words, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased!” It’s also why the Spirit works tirelessly and joyfully to bring lost sinners to the knowledge of the truth about Jesus. In bring those people into union with Christ through the work of Spirit, Christ is exalted. In lifting up Christ, God Himself is glorified. Eternal life for the people of God is the great mission of Christ Himself.

Jesus defines that eternal life with the phrase, “knowing thee!” So there is another purpose in the divine global missions that helps accomplish Gods’ glory. Namely, God is glorifying Himself and also making Himself known, and by making Himself known. From the earliest days of creation, before Adam and his posterity fell into the death and distance of sin man had the capacity to know God and enjoy knowing Him. Man, who was created as a divine image bearer, was created with the unique spiritual ability to enjoy what God enjoys, which is the peace, satisfaction, joy, and even identity that comes from knowing God. When God made man He did not make a divine being, and He certainly did not add another member to the Trinity, but He did create a being with the capacity to know what it meant to know God. Since the fall, it has been the mission of God to make Himself known, and in making Himself known to prove Himself all glorious, through the majesty of the redemption purchased by Christ on the cross. Now the mission of the church, which is comprised exclusively by those who know God, is to proclaim the good news of the gospel which glorifies God by making Him known.

God is glorified every time the gospel is preached. Whether it is preached in a chapel in Europe that took centuries to build, a church in America designed to look like a nightclub, or a field in Nigeria underneath a scorching sun, when the name of Jesus is preached it glorifies the grace, love, righteousness, holiness, and wisdom of God. No matter what the text, setting, or language, and whether the preacher carries degrees from universities or has never been inside a public school God is exalted when the message is preached. The message may be heard by school children anxious to return to play or by businessmen anxious to return to their boardroom but when it is proclaimed God’s sheep hear His voice (John 10) and they will be drawn to Him. Some respond to an altar call and cry out for mercy, some find themselves surprised and overwhelmed by faith while the message is still being delivered but every time a rebel to God’s law finds pardon through the work of His Son and peace from the message of His Gospel God has accomplished His purpose of glorifying Himself and making Himself known. So what would ever overthrow God’s sovereign purpose? Legislations from pagan governments, disease, and persecution have all threatened, at time, the spread of the gospel but even as I write this brief essay and as you read it God is overwhelmed with joy in knowing Himself and in spreading that knowledge of Himself to people that had previously tried to suppress the truth about Him.

These preachers themselves display God’s overwhelming sovereignty! What we might be tempted to view as a career choice or a life change, when someone enters the ministry, is really the work of a sovereign and free God who decided from eternity past to call an individual to proclaim the gospel. Why does one person, born a sinner in rebellion to God and separated from Him by their nature and choices, end up thirty years later proclaiming the glory of God in the gospel to a group of people totally unlike him in a language he had to take classes to learn while another person from a similar family and background is content to trade junk bonds? The only answer is that God is sovereign over what men do with their lives. He is freely calling people to proclaim the gospel of His glory. We go so far as to call that experience a “burden.” Where did this burden come from? Was it merely the natural result of human compassion or was it a gift from the throne of God? If it was then why do some have it and others don’t? The answer is that God is calling laborers to His harvest.

Jesus even encouraged the disciples to pray that God would send laborers. Not everyone will be a missionary or pastor but all of God’s people can and should pray for the continued spread of the gospel and God works in the hearts of His people to drive them to their knees and then in His sovereignty He answers their prayers He burdened them to pray before they have even asked them! (Isaiah 65:24) More importantly, God will answer the prayer of Christ to make Himself known. He will not turn away the prayers of His Son or the prayers of those who pray in His name.

The security of God’s redemptive mission is seen not merely in God’s commitment to them but in God’s commitment to His Son. Paul says in Romans 8:28-29 that whatever circumstance we might endure in life we can face it with the confident assurance that God is working all things out for our good in order to accomplish His purpose which is that we would be conformed to the image of His Son so that He would be firstborn among many brethren. God’s plan is to save us for the glory of Jesus. Because of that we cannot fall into the dangerous trap of thinking God will fail us. God will not fail us because He will not fail Jesus but the reality is that God’s plan to glorify Jesus is much bigger than just the negative circumstances of our lives. If he will not fail the individual Christian because His purpose is to glorify Jesus through their ultimate translation to glory then we can be confident that on by one his little flock will inherit the kingdom and so, God’s purpose cannot fail! God has chosen to glorify His Son through the people He has chosen to freely give Him. How could God’s desire to lift up Jesus through redemption and history fail? Rather than failing, God’s purpose spans eternities, includes all nations, and reaches from the high-rises in Manhattan to the slums of Mumbai. Because God’s purpose in glorifying His Son will never fail missions will not fail. That’s why Paul could say at the end of his life in 2 Timothy 2:10 that he would endure all things for the “elect’s sake”. God had chosen a group of people for the glory of His Son and that purpose could never be broken. Because of that fact we can pray, preach, labor, and give everything we have for the majestic gospel because no government in its chambers, no hardship experienced abroad, no demon in Hell, no angel in Heaven, and especially no man on earth could ever over throw God’s commitment to glorify His Son and to make Him known!

Essay by Aaron Kiefer

Luke 19:40 proclaims: “But he answered and said to them ‘I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.’”

Johnathan Edward’s shows us that the end for which God created the world is that God would be glorified. God created the universe for himself and from himself so that he would be glorified. It is through this magnificent perspective of God that his saints are charged to preach the gospel to further God’s glory. Thus, we can draw three main conclusions from our pursuit of gospel missions: primarily, it is God’s sovereign work that fuels our missions. Secondarily, it is a command from Christ. Finally, God’s creation demands that we preach.

Throughout the Bible we see God’s sovereign hand working out events for his glory. In the Old Testament the Psalms display God guiding his sheep through joy and suffering. In the New Testament all the way to the Cross we see him guide his Son to die for the sins of his people. God sovereignly uses this same power displayed throughout the Bible to save sinners through divine preaching of his holy, inspired, and infallible Word. God accomplishes this through sovereignly bringing his people to himself. The gospel of John makes this clear: “All that the Father gives me will come to me” (6:37). Our mission is fueled by an unrelenting trust in God’s sovereignty to bring his people to repentance and to keep his people until the day of resurrection.

It is also a command from Christ. Matthew 28:19 states “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” If God’s Word and our salvation wasn’t enough to make us cry out to the world that hope changes everything, our Lord Jesus commands us to go out into the entire world to preach the glorious gospel of grace to all. Christ laid down his life for these words to be fulfilled; we should expect nothing less than to follow him with joy.

Finally, God’s creation demands that we preach. Paul explains in his letter to the Roman’s that all creation groans for transformation from the curse (8:19-22). Jesus also describes the rocks crying out if his disciples were to remain silent over this universe changing teaching. If we were to stay silent, God’s creation would swallow us up in death through the curse that is already engulfing us. Creation is demanding that it be restored through the preaching of the Gospel. Thankfully, these passages are to be fulfilled in the new heavens and the new earth – the great climax of God’s glory foretold in the Scriptures.

All of this is to be accomplished through missions. God’s saints are empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to preach the transforming power of the gospel with the realization of God’s sovereignty, Christ’s command, and creation’s demand for hope.
